Biography

Publicity, books, display, cartoons. Jewish. Born 16 March 1918 in Hamburg. 1940-41: emigrated to Palestine via Poland, Soviet Union. Brother died in Warsaw Ghetto; mother died 1942 in Treblinka. His artistic career started at the age of 33. A book of cartoons was published in 1954. 1954-6: designed book jackets. 1956-8: designed posters and publicity for United Jewish Appeal (New York office), for the Israel Government Tourist Office, and for El Al Airlines. Worked on Israel Pavilion, Brussels World Fair, 1958; chief designer of the Kibbutz Exhibition, Haifa, 1958. Died 19 December 2000.
