Biography
Born 1917 in Mainz. 1936-7: studied at the Staatschule für Kunst und Handwerk, Mainz. 1942, 1945-9: studied at the Leipzig Hochschule für Grafik und Buchgewerbe: teachers included Georg Belwe and Egon Pruggmayer. From 1949: freelance in Mainz. 1950-60: taught at Staatliche Bau- und Kunstschule (now the Landeskunstschule), Mainz. From 1960: taught at the Mainz Staatliche Hochschulinstitut für Kunst- und Werkerziehung (now Fachbereich Kunsterziehung, Johannes Gutenberg University), where he was the Dean from 1977-81, and retired in 1982.
