Biography
Posters, publicity, book design, trademarks . Born 7 October 1910 in Berlin. Studied at the Riemann School. 1930-35: studied at the Berlin Akademie (where he was a Meisterschüler of O.H.W. Hadank), and at the Berlin Vereinte Staatschule für freie und angewandte Künste: a teacher was Ernst Böhm. From 1936: designer for the NSV [National Socialist Verlag?] where he worked on the journal Ewige Deutschland (Eternal Germany). From 1945: lived in Ludwigslust. He designed postage stamps, worked as illustrator (Decameron, Thousand and One Nights) for numerous publishers and on the journal Heute und Morgen. Awarded medals from DDR: Fritz Reuter Art Prize, and Johannes Becher Gold Medal. Died 11 March 1973 in Ludwigslust.
