Biography
Illustrations, exlibris. Austrian. Born 18 June 1883 in Karlsbad (now Karlovy Vary). Studied art history at the University of Vienna while also attending classes at the Kunstgewerbe: teachers included Kolo Moser and Roller. From 1907: worked at the Dachau artists’ colony near Munich. 1913-53: taught at the Weimar Hochschule für bildende Kunst. Klemm won numerous awards, notably: Gold Medal, Bugra, Leipzig, 1914; Nuremberg, 1927; Gold Medal, Amsterdam, 1928; Warsaw, 1935; Gold Medal, Paris, 1937; Helsinki, 1952. Work influenced by Emil Orlik and Japanese art. Died 11 August 1957 in Weimar.
